We just received the heartbreaking news of the demise of a young Ghanaian citizen in Europe. The Ghanaian citizen identified as Kweku was a student in Italy, one of the countries that have been severely hit by the Coronavirus pandemic.
Breaking the news, a friend of the deceased Benjamin Sey with the Twitter handle, @calif_MUFC via the microblogging platform revealed that Kweku died after he got infected with the deadly COVID-19 during the course of his studies in Italy.
According to Benjamin, Kweku is the only child of his mother and has been hit hard by his death. Narrating her ordeal, he disclosed that the death has left Kweku’s mother terribly heartbroken and depressed. He added that he has been by her side all day consoling the downtrodden woman.
Benjamin further advised Ghanaians to be very cautious and practice safe hygiene in order to avoid contracting the virus. He strongly dispelled the wild rumours that the black race are immune to the Coronavirus.
The tweet reads;
“R.I.P Kweku. For those of you out there thinking the virus don’t attack Blacks, well my friends in Italy died yesterday. I have to hold her mum here all day. Her only son died from Corona virus. It’s not easy to lose your only child abroad studying”
He then disclosed that the deceased would be buried in the country of his death, which means that the mother would not get to see her son’s corpse.
“He will be buried in Italy without her mum getting to see his son again. Stay safe out there people cos everything is real.” He added in a subsequent tweet.
The Ghanaian government is yet to officially confirm his death. The deadly virus has claimed the lives of thousands across the globe and each day more people are infected.
Currently, Ghana has recorded 6 cases in the country. Amongst them are two Ghanaian nationals, a University of Ghana student and an Anglogold Ashanti staff. Both cases were imported cases from overseas.
The story indeed a sad story. We send our heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased, may God grant them solace in their time of mourning.
