History: Sarkodie Becomes First Ghanaian Artist To Hit 70m YouTube Views

BET award winning rapper, Sarkodie has become the first Ghanaian artist to hit 70 million views on YouTube with Adonai.

Sarkodie’s most popular song, ‘Adonai’ has become the first Ghanaian music video to get 70 million views on YouTube.

The song which features the late Castro is one of the most successful and popular songs in the history of Ghana music.

Adonai was released in June 2014. It’s a remix of one of the singles on Sarkodie’s Sarkology album that was released the same year.

The original song featured SK Blinks.

Adonai (remix) was produced by Streetbeatz, directed by Nana Kofi Asihene and features Castro De Destroya. The music video was shot in Cape Town, South Africa.

It won numerous awards at the 2015 VGMA awards including Most Popular Song and Best Hip Hop Song.

The song has achieved this record breaking 70 million views in less than 6 years and by the look of things, it will easily hit 100 million.
