Zimbabwean socialite, businesswoman and former Big Brother Africa (BBA) housemate Pokello Nare has state that she no longer want to be called a slay queen or social media star as she believes her lifestyle is more than that.
Elikem Kurmodzie, the Ghananian tailor’s ex-wife claims she only attend public events when paid to make an appearance hence the title socialite doesn’t befit her status.
Speaking to V Candy on Zim’s Star FM, Pokello told the host that she is not that sociable and would rather be looked at as a top celebrity with the most following in Zimbabwe.
“I need to clarify. I despise being called a socialite, I absolutely despise being called a socialite. I would think a socialite is someone who attends a lot of social events and you hardly see me at that many social events unless I’m paid to be there,” she said.
“Businesswoman, mother, celebrity, I am fine with that. Not socialite. If I’m the most followed person in this country then I am way past a socialite, I am amongst your top celebrities so people need to recognize that,” she added.
Meanwhile, Pokello Nare’s husband of three years Elikem Kumordzie has officially filed for divorce at the High Court in Zimbabwe saying he has lost love, affection and declared that his marriage to the “Queen of Swag” was irreparable.
Mr Kumordzie is being represented by Rugano Mahuni of Mahuni Gidiri Law Chambers. He wants a divorce decree order that custody of their minor child be awarded to Pokello with him exercising reasonable access on agreed holidays paying $500 as maintenance.
The two love birds who met in the Big Brother Africa house in 2013 got engaged in 2014 and had a traditional marriage in 2015 but they have been on separation for the past year residing in different countries and never lived for year in the same house as normal couples do.
Plaintiff and defendant were married to each other under the Marriages Act at Harare on September 28, 2015 and the marriage still subsists.
